Gravidum - 10 Things To Know

Happy pregnancy, here.. have hideous sickness.

1. It IS NOT the same as morning sickness - morning sickness subsides or will come and go a few times a day. Gravidum hyperemisis stays with you all day

2. There is a cut off point - If you are suffering terribly and struggling you can seek Medical help from a healthcare professional. You can be given medications to help

3. It can land you in hospital - way before your due date HG can land you in a hospital bed, simply through horrific dehydration

4. Day to day activities are nearly impossible - emptying a bin? Forget it, HG means you can barely lift your head off of the pillow

5. The back ache is real - The straining from being sick constantly takes it toll on your back, always make sure you try not too strain over the toilet for too long (if you can help)

6. The headaches are real - Hungover? Nope, it's just a massive migraine from the constant strain on your head, and the dehydration

7. You cannot "just ride it out" - Hyperemisis is truly debilitating, and once it's truly set it it's like the worst sickness bug you've ever had. It's impossible to feel normal whilst it's there

8. The medication doesn't always work - Been given pills and think they are a miricalr cure? They may not work, however there are others so keep trying

9. Sleep as much as you can - Let your body repair itself whilst you sleep. Lay upright on a pillow if it makes you feel queasy

10. You are NOT alone BUT - HG only affects a measley 1% of the pregnant population it's just very unfortunate if you find yourself dealing with it
