26 weeks, half a year, 6 bleddy months.
No idea atall, where that time went. For me to say that it has gone fast would be a complete understatement. I never imagined myself with two children, but now I can barely remeber what it was like with just the one, although I recall it being wayyyyy easier.
So anyway, our 8.4 pound bundle is now tipping the scales at 16 pounds, and getting reactions like "oh isn't he chunky" "god Genna he looks way older than 6 months" "oh hes lovely" "are you enjoying having two its hard work isn't it? But isn't it amazing too" .... I'll agree to some extent that it is amazing, you know I pushed out two fantastic looking children, that bring light to my families life, they make me smile on a daily basis, BUT they also make me cry.
Actually, its probably still my hormones calming down? How much longer can I use that excuse for? Any ideas, perhaps at least until he's a year, hopefully. My hair is still falling out, so maybe thats hormones too, or actually maybe it's the fact i'm effing jeffing stressed out. This weaning lark is literally like completing some sort of mission that you get no instructions on. With my first child I did puree' it seemed easy, blast up a load of fruit and veggies in the nutribullet, get a spoon and feed. Now though, we're chopping up carrots, sweet potato, adding a hint of coriander and spending 94894 hours in the kitchen. Thats probably a slight exaggeration but seriously, have you typed in "First food recipes" online? It's better meals than i've ever had. I'm all for letting my baby explore new tastes but i'd rather not have to remortgage the house too feed him.
So as a whole, the feeding is going really well, he's taken to it like a hero. Clearly you can guess by his chubby cheeks that he enjoys eating (no idea where he gets that from ahem). I started off with some really easy textures, soft cooked carrots, sweet potato, avocado and he loved it. This week we've moved on to bread, yogurts, pear, some melty cracker things, and peas. So far so good. I have to congratulate Asda, they've come out with Organic 6 month baby yogurts, and I approve! Such good value for money and you can taste that they aren't totally loaded with sugar. The range of foods in supermarkets for 6 months old has come a long long way since 3 years ago, and I personally think that the 'snacky bits' are really affordable, especially for on the go and days out.
In other news, our chunk is starting to go across the floor like a worm! He wants to move desperately and his determination is something that I love too watch! If we place a specific toy in front of him he really starts to jalt himself towards it. In regards to him sitting up, watch this space. His balance is getting really good.
I always like to include an update of my 3.5 year old girl too, and she is starting to rock at the sister duties. It's taken 6 months, however - she really does love her brother now. If I have any top tips for parents who have children struggling to adjust, it's DO NOT FORCE THE BABY UPON THEM! Let them come around in their own time. Me and my partner were in the dining room earlier and Rupert was in his jumperoo/the life saver, and Faith was making him giggle his little head off. Moments like that are precious. We really do lock them in the memory box.
I really hope the next 6 months don't fly as quick, time is precious, waste it wisely. 🖤
